Watch: How to Send a calendar invitation to the group using the “group email address”.

There are two primary reasons to invite groups to an event:

  • It's the easiest and most efficient way to invite large numbers of people at one time.
  • An event can have a maximum of 500 invitees. If your attendee list is larger than that, you can make some of the invitees be groups. You can therefore invite up to 500 groups, allowing for a virtually unlimited number of total attendees.

If you invite a group to a calendar event, the group's members list expands in the invitation, but only if you have the appropriate access permissions for that group. This limitation protects the privacy settings for a group, and it applies to both users and administrators.

If you invite a group to a meeting, all of the group's members appear in the invitation on your calendar only if you have the appropriate access permissions for that group. This limitation upholds the privacy settings for a group, and it applies to both users and administrators.
