Jabber for Android: Quick Start Guide

The Cisco Jabber app allows you to use your Android for instant messaging and collaboration. Jabber for Android has many of the same features as Jabber for other devices, but not all features are available to all users. If the feature is not available in your department, its control icons are grayed out. 

The navigation drawer allows you to: search for contacts, view and edit your availability status, access your features, edit your settings, and view account information or sign out of your account.

Tap any of the above numbered items to use the navigation drawer. Use the toggle button (three horizontal lines stacked on top of each other in the top left-hand corner) to switch between the navigation drawer and whatever menu item you wish to view. 

  1. Search for contacts. 
  2. View and edit your availability status. 
  3. Access your features.
  4. Edit your settings. 
  5. View account information or sign out of your account. 

Custom status messages

Choose your status message, which includes "Available," "Away," or "Do Not Disturb." You may also create your own custom status

You can create up to three custom status messages for each availability state. Tap the plus sign in the top right-hand corner, enter your new status message, and then tap Save

Chat menu

The chat menu has options to join a webex meeting or view the profile of the person with whom you're chatting

The chat menu can include controls to hold a WebEx meeting or view the profile of the person with whom you're chatting. Access the chat menu by tapping the three vertical dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
