Zoom Meeting (Phone Conference Calls)

Conference Calling using Poly Edge E100 phone handset - recommended for small conference calls of up to 3 participants:

  •  While on a call, press the More soft key.
  •  Then press Conference.
  •  Enter the campus extension or phone number to add to the conference call.
  •  Press the Send soft key.
  •  When the second call is answered, press the More soft key and then the Conference soft key to connect the calls.

Conference Calling using Zoom Desktop Client or Zoom App - recommended for small conference calls of up to 3 participants:

  • While on a call, click Add Call on the keypad.
  • Enter the name or number of the person you want to add to your phone conference, then click the blue phone icon.
  • When the caller picks up, their number will be displayed on the keypad screen and under the Lines menu.
  • Click the merge icon on the right of the number you just called, then select the on-hold phone number to add to the call.

Conference Calling using Zoom Meeting - recommended for large conference calls:

  • Create a Zoom Meeting in Google Calendar. Alternatively, log in to www.zoom.us using your Google Single Sign-On (SSO) and select the + Schedule a Meeting button.

  •  In your Google Calendar Invite, click the down arrow to View conference details.

  • In View conference details, you will see how to join the meeting by phone.

  • To host the phone conference, you will need your Host Key. Log in to www.zoom.us/profile to find your Host Key (this is similar to a PIN and does not change).Screenshot 2024-09-10 at 1.12.05 PM.png

  • Test your call as a host and participant before sharing dialing instructions. User experience will vary, depending on your Zoom settings. Below is a sample:
    • Host:
      Dial 253-215-8782
      Enter Meeting ID 89254906113#
      Enter Host Key ******#
    • Participant:
      Dial 253-215-8782
      Enter Meeting ID 89254906113#
      Enter #

      (It may ask for a Participant ID. You can bypass this by pressing #. Be sure to share your Meeting passcode if your settings require participants to enter a passcode.)

  • Phone controls for meeting host
    If you have entered the Host Key to start the meeting, you will have host controls available by using your dial pad. To hear all available commands, enter ** on your phone.
    • *4 - End the meeting for all participants
    • *5 - Lock or Unlock the meeting
    • *6 - Mute or unmute yourself
    • *7 - Start or Stop Recording
      Note: all participants in the meeting will be notified when recording is stopped or started.
    • *# - Hear the number of participants in the meeting
    • 99 - Mute or unmute all participants
