Social learning is a powerful way to engage students and that is why Flipgrid defaults videos to be seen by all students of the Grid (and only students in your class)! However, Flipgrid also understands some discussions require moderation or student videos to be hidden such as when you are using a Public/PLC grid type or PreK-2 classes.
Step 1: Enable Video Moderation - Hide New Videos From Students
- Select a Grid by clicking its name.
- Scroll down to see a list of your Topics. Use the Actions menu and select Edit Topic (not to be confused with editing a Grid)
- Scroll down to the Topic Status section, toggle the Video Moderation setting to on.
Step 2: Hide or Activate (Approve) Student Videos
A. My Activity > Recent Videos: The quickest way to watch and make moderated videos visible is to use your Recent Videos section.
Here, you can filter for moderated videos, Responses, and Replies. Quickly change Hidden to Active.
B. Educators can also activate videos in their FlipGrid Topics
- Select a Grid by clicking its name.
- Scroll down to see a list of your Topics. Select a Topic by clicking its title.
- Scroll down to see a list of videos.
- Change 🔴Hidden to Active so students can view.
- Ready to Activate/Approve multiple or all videos at once, select the checkbox, and the "Actions" drop-down menu to "Activate" the videos.
