Sophos is an anti-virus application used by the entire school to protect our computers from viruses, trojans, spyware, etc. Sophos is set to update automatically, however, it is important that every computer user periodically check to make sure it is updating correctly.
Mac Users
1. Check your Sophos shield at the top right of your desktop. It should be black. If it is black then Sophos is working correctly.
If the Sophos shield has a white X through it then continue to the next step.
2. Check that your Apple menu>Location is set to the correct location and you are connected to the internet (if you do not have internet service available you will need to update Sophos at another time).
3. Click on the shield and select Open Sophos Endpoint to start a manual update.
4. Files will download and update Sophos. Once complete you can close the status window.
5. If the Update fails or an error occurs this could be caused by several reasons. Try it again later or at a different location. If it continues to fail then please submit a support ticket at support.blakeschool.org.
6. Select the Scan Now button to start scanning your computer for malware or anti-virus
Windows Users
1. Check your Sophos shield on the bottom right of your computer in the Windows system tray. If the shield is blue it is working correctly.
If the Sophos shield has a red x through it then continue to the next step.
2. Make sure you are connected to the internet (if you do not have internet service available you will need to update Sophos at another time).
3. Right click on the shield and select Update Now to start a manual update.
4. Files will download and update Sophos. Once complete you can close the window if necessary.
5. If the Update fails or an error occurs this could be caused by several reasons. Try it again later or at a different location if you have a laptop. If it continues to fail then please submit a support ticket at support.blakeschool.org.
